Steady Translate for Google Sheets™ ("the add-on") is provided by Arkay Software. The add-on has no server of its own and no analytics. We do not collect, receive, sell or share the contents of your spreadsheets.
Google user data
The add-on asks Google for these permissions:
- spreadsheets.currentonly: to read the cells you choose in the spreadsheet where the add-on is open, create the new tab, and write the translations. It cannot access any other file.
- script.container.ui: to show the sidebar.
- script.external_request: to check a paid license key with Lemon Squeezy. It is limited to that one address.
The add-on's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. Your data is not used for advertising, is not transferred to anyone else, and is not read by humans.
Where your cell contents go
When you start a run, the text of the cells being translated is sent to Google's translation service through Google Apps Script (LanguageApp), under your own Google account, one cell at a time. A very long cell is sent in several parts. It is not sent anywhere else. Google's handling of it is covered by Google's privacy policy.
What is stored, and where
All of this stays in Google's Apps Script storage for your account. We have no access to it.
- Run progress: the spreadsheet's identifier, position in the sheet, counts of cells, tab identifiers, the name of the new tab (it includes the name of your tab) and the chosen languages, so a run can resume. It contains no cell contents. Discard removes it. Finishing a run removes most of it, and a short record of that run stays until you start another run in the same file.
- Daily count: how many cells you translated today and how many translation requests that took, for the free plan.
- Last target language, to preselect it next time.
- License: your license key, its instance identifier, its status, its end date and when it was last checked, if you entered a key. "Remove from this account" deletes them. Lemon Squeezy's answers include your name and email, and the add-on does not keep them.
- Temporary memory of repeated texts: short cell texts and their translations are kept in Google's temporary script cache during a run, so that the same text is not translated twice. They are deleted when the run finishes or is discarded, and otherwise expire by themselves within 6 hours of the last batch.
Licenses and purchases
Purchases are handled by Lemon Squeezy on its own checkout page, under its privacy policy. Lemon Squeezy shows us each order, including the buyer's name and email, so that we can handle support and refunds.
The add-on sends Lemon Squeezy only the license key you enter, together with a random instance name when you activate it or the instance identifier after that. This happens when you activate or remove the key, and when you open the sidebar about once a week, or after the key's end date, to check that it is still valid. No cell content is ever sent.
The buy links go straight to the Lemon Squeezy checkout. Cloudflare, which hosts this page, counts page visits in total with its cookieless Web Analytics and keeps standard access logs (IP address, time, page).
Technical records
Google keeps its own records of script runs. If a run fails unexpectedly, Google may record a technical error message that the developer can see in Google's console. The add-on does not write cell contents to any log.
Removing the add-on
You can remove the add-on from Extensions > Add-ons > Manage add-ons in Google Sheets, and remove its access in your Google Account under Third-party apps and services. Tabs the add-on created are ordinary tabs of your spreadsheet: delete them whenever you like.
