EML & MSG Viewer

readepub.app › Guides · Updated November 2026

Open an .eml file online

Drop the .eml on the EML & MSG Viewer page, or click Choose a file, and the message opens in your browser: subject, sender, date, the text, its pictures and its attachments. No mail program is needed, nothing is uploaded, and remote images stay blocked.

Free to read messages and save attachments. No mail program, no sign-up, no upload.

Three steps

Open the viewer

The viewer is one page, in any current browser on Windows, macOS, Linux or Chrome OS.

Drop the file on it

Drag the .eml onto the page, or click Choose a file. No account is needed.

Read and save

Subject, sender, recipients and date, the message as HTML or plain text, and a Save button on each attachment.

Private by design

Where the limits are

  • Remote images stay blocked: there is no button to load them.
  • Encrypted mail (S/MIME, PGP) cannot be read. Its protected part is listed as an attachment.
  • One message at a time. Mailbox files (.mbox, .pst) do not open, and files over 150 MB do not either.
  • Printing the whole message is Pro, a one-time $14.99, to paper or PDF with the sender, recipients, date and attachment names on top.

Questions

Is my email uploaded anywhere?

No. This site has no server of its own; the browser reads the file on your computer.

Can I open an .eml from Google Drive?

Yes. Connect the viewer to Drive once from its page, then right-click the file in Drive and choose Open with.

Where do .eml files come from?

Gmail's "Download message", Thunderbird, Apple Mail and most mail programs save single emails as .eml. Outlook saves .msg, which opens here too.

Is it free?

Reading messages and saving attachments is free. Pro, a one-time $14.99, adds printing the whole message, to paper or PDF, with the sender, recipients, date and attachment names on top.

Do I need a mail program?

No. The viewer is one web page, so it needs only a current browser on Windows, macOS, Linux or Chrome OS.

Why are some images missing?

Images loaded from the internet are blocked on purpose, so the sender cannot tell that you opened the message. Pictures that came inside the email are shown, and the page says how many remote ones were blocked.
